When it comes to being a plus-size girl, it seems like there are hundreds more rules for us than our skinny sisters. I don't know how this came to be, but I was wearing girdles at 12 and forbidden to wear stripes soon after. This is a tough subject to tackle because we get into what is "flattering" (a term suddenly offensive to some) and what makes you "happy."
I want to pose a challenge that we each find a perfect balance between the two! Be bold and unafraid to try new things or express yourself wildly, but consider how you want to be perceived, whether you're aiming for "chic" or "she's insane." I know I love stripes and have come to realize it isn't me that the problem is with, it's the stripe! Finding the right stripe for my body type is the key. Same goes for prints, feisty colors, and anything else outside your box.
