I've been wearing a lot of top knots lately. Between the hair-defying humidity and my tendency to oversleep after sipping rosé on some rooftop deck, they're the perfect summer solution the ponytail's casual, sexier cousin, if you will. And while it's impossible to mess up a top knotthat's the whole pointMatt Fugate of Sally Hershberger shared his no-fuss tips to achieving summer's hottest bun. Bonus: This style works on wet or dry hair.
1. Flip head over and gather tresses into a ponytail on top of your head. Loosely secure with a band.
2. Spray ponytail with a leave-in conditioner for sun protection and texture, like Sally Hershberger's Hyper Hydration Super Keratin Spray ($10).
3. Wrap hair around the loose band and once you like the knot, secure with another band for a tight, yet undone look. For added fun, leave the end out in a fun point.
4. Double bonus: When you do take the knot out, you'll have perfect beachy waves.
