Everyone's favorite socially awkward paper-supply drone from The Office sheds the LensCrafters glasses and center
hair part for leather pants and silver skull medallions in this month's
Spinal Tap ode, The Rocker. Wilson plays Robert "Fish" Fishman, a sweaty drummer
unceremoniously booted from Vesuvius, an '80s hair-metal band, just
before the group lands the cover of Rolling Stone.
Fishman gets a second chance at trashing hotel rooms 20 years later
when he joins his nephew's struggling high-school garage band.
Wilson's own musical résumé is decidedly less glam: He played clarinet,

When I was 16, I worked as a lifeguard at the local tennis club. But
this was no ordinary, lounging in the sun gig. When my one-hour shift

drinks part sometimes included alcohol, which I suppose I served
illegally, but at the time I didn’t know it. On top of all of this, we
maintained the cleanliness of the tennis and squash courts, bathrooms,
and locker rooms. Every night that summer, I came home absolutely
exhausted.

By Darin Strauss (Dutton)
When career woman-turned-stay-at-home mom Dori Goldins toddler has two bloody incidents that force her husband, Josh, to come to the rescue, doctors start to wonder if the missus has found a sinister way of getting her husband to be home more. (Did we mention Dori is a former phlebotomist?) After their story makes news, the novel feels like an episode of Law & Order: SVU (without the predictability or the ads), allowing one-time wunderkind Strauss (2001s Chang and Eng) to shake off that sophomore slump and hit a homer.
