FIRST LADY OF HAIRCOLORING: Rita Hazan

THE MEETING THAT LED HER TO THE LIMELIGHT: "Just after Jennifer Lopez did Selena, she came to me for the first time and said she wanted a whole new look. I took a chance and lightened her up." And just like that, those coveted honey streaks were born.

SO THAT'S WHY SHE'S WRINKLE-FREE: Hazan is a baby! She's just 31 (though she's been in the biz for more than 10 years), which means she was barely out of her teens when she started compiling her impressive client roster. Today she has her own salon in New York City, frequently appears on makeover segments on Oprah, and is a hair color consultant for Pantene's new color line. She's also developing her own line of color-friendly hair products.

TO LOOK LIKE A HAZAN CLIENT:
* Go warm. "Cool hair [ashy or frosty] isn't flattering to anyone." If you have a cool complexion, do a mix of warm and cool tones (like Lopez).
* Avoid color depositing shampoos. "The pigment stains hair."

HAS WORKED WITH: Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Lopez, Carmen Electra

FIRST LADY OF HAIRCUTTING: Sally Hershberger

THE COIF COPIED AROUND THE WORLD: Meg Ryan's ubiquitous short shag? It was Hershberger's creation.

THE GENESIS OF HER CAREER: "I never wanted to do hair, but at 19, I left college, and my mom said, 'Go back to school or get a job.'"

HOW TO LAND AN APPOINTMENT WITH HER: Get on the waiting list for a $600 cut at one of her two salons (in New York and L.A.). No can 'do? Try the next best (and cheaper) thing, and pick up her namesake hair care line, due in drugstores sometime in the next two years.

TO LOOK LIKE A HERSHBERGER CLIENT:
*Wash your hair less often (every three days is ideal). The secret is to give yourself a good blowout that lasts. And when you do wash, stick to bodybuilding cleansers, like John Frieda Sheer Blonde Shampoos.
*Avoid thin, stripey highlights. "They look homemade, like you pulled your hair through a cap." Also avoid "cuts that are big on the sides--they're frumpy." Layers are the key to keeping your cut streamlined.

HAS WORKED WITH: Meg Ryan, Kate Moss, Michelle Pfeiffer.

FIRST LADY OF AGELESS SKIN: Patricia Wexler, M.D.

HER CLAIM TO FAME: She helped pioneer the use of Botox and injectable fillers such as Captique.

ADVICE SHE DISPENSES BUT DOESN'T FOLLOW: "I tell my patients to use sunscreen daily, but I don't. With all the hours I work, I rarely see daylight!"

WHAT LED HER TO DERMATOLOGY:"I had cystic acne when I was younger and became obsessed with getting gorgeous skin. In fact, I visited my dermatologist so often that I ended up marrying his nephew."

WHY YOU'LL SOON SEE DR. WEXLER'S NAME EVERYWHERE: She is, at last, launching an eponymous skincare line this fall, to be sold in Bath & Body Works stores and on QVC.

TO LOOK LIKE A WEXLER PATIENT:
*Treat your skin as though it's sensitive-- whether it is or not. Stick with gentle cleansers, moisturizers, and antiaging products. And to further avoid irritation, go for one or two multitasking products rather than four or five different items. "I have to laugh when women bring in shopping bags filled with products and wonder why their skin's a mess!" she says.

HAS WORKED WITH: A bevy of A-list actresses--but she won't name names.

FIRST LADY OF NUTRITION: Carrie Latt Wiatt

HER MOTTO: Practice portion control. Wiatt's three books all focus on learning to eat reasonable amounts of food; she blames Americans' expanding waistlines on an inability to distinguish between "satisfied" and "stuffed."

HER GET-SLIM STRATEGY: Wiatt's L.A.-based Diet Designs helps clients learn to eat proportionally via a food-delivery service that brings just-the-right-size meals to your home. (If you don't live in California--or if you're a celebrity filming in, say, Mexico--they'll FedEx your meals to you.)

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FALL OFF THE WAGON: "I'm human, too, and I don't always stick to my eating plan. But don't let one slip-up blow your whole day." So, you ate two donuts at breakfast? Make up for it with a healthy lunch.

TO LOOK LIKE A WIATT CLIENT:
*Do breakfast. "When I wake up, I drink a liter of water. It helps cleanse your system." She then eats plain yogurt ("the probiotics in it are a must for your digestive system") mixed with berries and whole-grain granola.
*Never go four hours without consuming something. Some good choices: seven to 10 raw almonds, a nectarine, or low-fat string cheese.
*Limit starch. Although she's not against any vegetable per se, Wiatt advises eating small portions of the starchier varieties, such as corn, potatoes, and peas.

HAS WORKED WITH: Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, former Miss USA Shanna Moakler.

FIRST LADY OF FITNESS: Kathy Kaehler

WHERE YOU'VE SEEN HER: On NBC's Today Show (she's the fitness correspondent) or on the cover of either her newest book, Kathy Kaehler's Celebrity Workouts, or her DVD series, Kathy Kaehler Basics.

HOW SHE'S DIFFERENT FROM OTHER TRAINERS: As a mother of three young boys, Kaehler knows what it means to be short on time, so she creates simple fitness regimens that can be done anywhere, based on elementary school gym class activities such as jumping rope, sprinting, and shuffling from side to side. "These basic moves are often just as effective as today's most complex classes and gym equipment," she says.

TO LOOK LIKE A KAEHLER CLIENT:
*Schedule your workouts. "Otherwise, exercise will get swallowed up by your other responsibilities."
*Become an active person. "The key is to become active seven days a week, not just three days a week for 30 minutes. And the gym is not the only place to burn calories--you will achieve your ideal weight faster if you take the stairs rather than an elevator, return the grocery cart to the store instead of leaving it by the car, or squeeze in crunches or lunges while you're on the phone."

HAS WORKED WITH: Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Cindy Crawford, Michelle Pfeiffer.

FIRST LADY OF BIKINI WAXING: Jonice Padilha (J Sisters Salon)

LITTLE-KNOWN FACT: Thought the Brazilian bikini wax hailed from south of the equator? Think again. The teensy-weensy wax job originated not on the sunny beaches of Brazil, but in Padilha's nail salon on West 57th Street in Manhattan. "Brazil, where we're from [Padilha and her six sisters co-own the salon], is famous for its small bathing suits. So we thought, Why not create a bikini wax for women everywhere who want to wear those tiny bikini bottoms?"

NEXT UP FOR YOUR NETHER REGION: "We now offer a 'bikini facial' that prevents ingrowns and calms post-waxing irritation."

TO LOOK LIKE A J SISTERS CLIENT:
*Keep it clean. After you visit a professional bikini waxer, Padilha recommends cleansing with a washcloth or gentle body scrub daily. She also suggests slathering on sunscreen: "I am convinced that, even if you are not walking around naked, the heat of the sun darkens your bikini area."

HAS WORKED WITH: Gwyneth Paltrow, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington.

FIRST LADY OF MAKEUP: Mally Roncal

WHERE YOU'LL SPOT HER: On QVC pitching her Mally Beauty makeup.

HER FIRST FORAY INTO MAKEUP: "When I was in sixth grade, my mother took me to Saks for a makeover. After that, I wore makeup every day — and offered to do everyone else's, too."

WHAT MAKES HER MAD: "I hate when people say beauty is frivolous. I do makeup because there is no greater high than helping a woman look in the mirror and love herself."

TO LOOK LIKE A RONCAL CLIENT:
*Go easy. Roncal believes that you don't need the whole base-to-lip-liner routine. In fact, the first time Roncal worked with Beyonce, she finished her makeup in just 15 minutes. "I just couldn't bring myself to put foundation on her flawless skin," says Roncal.
* But have fun. "You can play with color and still be finished in minutes: Green shadow and pink lipstick don't take longer to apply than nudes!"

HAS WORKED WITH: Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Ashlee Simpson.

FIRST LADY OF EYEBROWS: Eliza Petrescu

WHERE YOU CAN FIND HER: Petrescu runs the first-ever brow boutique, housed in Avon's spa in Manhattan.

WHY SHE'S A VISIONARY: Petrescu helped carve out a new beauty category — brow shaping — in the early 1990s. "I was working at a salon in New York, and I would often suggest a little brow shaping to my nail clients. Pretty soon, they were coming in just for that." Today, there's a three month waiting list to see her.

HOW SHE DISCOVERED HER ARCH APTITUDE: "I started shaping my mother's brows when I was 8 years old. Romania was communist then, and we couldn't afford to go to the beauty salon more than twice a year."

TO LOOK LIKE A PETRESCU CLIENT:
*See a professional. If you can't get to Manhattan to see Petrescu, she says to have the fuzz around your brows waxed off, then shape conservatively, accentuating your natural arch but not over-thinning. Finally, use tools from the Eliza Brow Kit to pencil in any bald spots.

HAS WORKED WITH: Jennifer Lopez, Cindy Crawford, Oprah Winfrey.

FIRST LADY OF NAILS: Deborah Lippmann

WHY HER NAME RINGS A BELL: Lippmann has a line of high-end nail-care products, Lippmann Collection, which boasts several nail colors cocreated with famous clients, such as "Sarah Smile" with Sarah Jessica Parker and "Walk Away Renee" with Renee Zellweger.

THE POWER OF A GOOD MANICURE: "I didn't have my first professional manicure until I was in my 20s. I got porcelain nails — and discovered how much well-groomed hands could boost self-esteem. I became addicted."

WHAT HER CLIENTS LOVE ABOUT HER: Lippmann is a meticulous manicurist with unparalleled warmth. She is often credited with calming even the edgiest diva with her "magic" hand and foot massages.

TO LOOK LIKE A LIPPMANN CLIENT:
*Lube up. "Reapply hand cream every time you wash your hands," says Lippmann. For best results, use one with sunscreen, like Lippmann's Rich Girl lotion with SPF 25.
*Bring your own nail kit to any salon ("there is so much bacteria on salon utensils") and never, ever let the technician cut your cuticles — even if it looks better afterward. "In three days, when they're jagged and tearing, you'll regret it."

HAS WORKED WITH: Mary J. Blige, Sarah Jessica Parker, Mariah Carey.

FIRST LADY OF CLEAR SKIN: Sonya Dakar

WHAT MOTIVATES HER: Though her facials are a must for celebs before a big photo op, Dakar did not start out with the intention of making already good-looking people drop-dead gorgeous. "My goal was always to help 'real' people who suffer from acne, rosacea, and sun damage."

HOW SHE VIEWS DERMS:"I am to dermatology what acupuncture is to surgery — a less-invasive alternative."

THE SCIENCE BEHIND HER LINE: "My husband is our formulator and head of research and development. Once he saw how powerful it was to alter the way people see themselves just by changing their skin, he gave up his career as an engineer and devoted himself to making our products."

ONE PRODUCT SHE'LL NEVER CHANGE: "The Drying Potion was among our first products (in the '70s). It still dries up pimples better than anything else, so why mess with it?"

TO LOOK LIKE A DAKAR CLIENT:
*Beware of sodium laurel sulfate. "It's a common ingredient in cleansers, but it's as harsh as laundry soap."
* Stock up on moisturizers. Everyone needs a good hydrating lotion, with an essential oil like lavender, to promote healing. Another must? Eye cream, since the undereye has no oil glands.

HAS WORKED WITH: Gwyneth Paltrow, Drew Barrymore, Paula Abdul, Debra Messing.
