Hi, Can We Talk About Yara Shahidi's Hair for a Second?

Very important discussion, guys.

Let's play a fun game: What did you look like when you were 16 or 17 years old? What was your whole beauty situation as a young, impressionable teenager in high school? Were you like me, a curly-haired kid meticulously flat-ironing your (curly) hair into oblivion, à la the popular kids?

Or were you like Yara Shahidi, a total badass who, at literally just 17 years of age, has already spent her entire teenage life on red carpets, completely owning her natural curls in all of their coil-y and voluminous glory?

I'm willing to bet somewhere near my end of the spectrum, because #highschoolsucks. Which is why I'm genuinely so damn excited and happy to see someone like Shahidi embrace her curls in a world that still values silky, stick-straight hair, or "beachy" waves.

And though Shahidi is certainly not the first, or the youngest, champion of the natural hair community (lookin' at you, Skai Jackson and Amandla Stenberg), she's still one of my favorites, mainly because of the straight-up magic she pulls off on red carpets, wearing full, billowing curls one day, then switching to a tumbly updo or sleek finger waves the next. So in honor of my love for Shahidi, let us reflect on her 13 best hair moments of all time, ahead.
