Jennifer Lopez is Wonder Woman for a variety of reasons—not the least of which is the fact that she's single-handedly bringing back visible lip liner.

A trend that's oft been considered dated since its heyday in the '90s, J.Lo has reinvigorated the look with a cool new update:  opting for a thin line that contours a soft, pinky nude lip with a glossy finish.

It seems simple enough for us mere mortals, but we've always found that when it comes to lip liner it's best to tread lightly i.e. learn from the best. That's why we had makeup artist Lavonne Anthony break things down in four simple steps.

After prepping the lips with a moisturizing balm (byTerry Baume de Rose is always our pre lip color ritual), apply a creamy concealer, like Bobbi Brown's Face Touch Up Stick,  to the lips to make them even with the rest of your complexion.

Using a flesh-toned lip liner that's roughly two shades darker than your skin tone—Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil really stays in place—trace the outline of your lips. To ensure symmetry, we like to begin at the center of the cupid's bow.

Fill in the rest of your lips with a flesh-toned lipstick, like that from L'Oréal's Colour Riche Collection. Then, gently roll your lips together a few times so they make a little *pop* sound, being very careful not to blend away the lip liner.

Finish things off with a smattering of high-shine lip gloss à la Make Up For Ever's Artist Plexi-GlossEd note: For even crisper definition, use a synthetic brush to lightly conceal the corners of your mouth.

Eat your heart out, J.Lo.
