In retrospect, it makes complete sense why Burberry Prorsum used the (at the time) brand-new iPhone 5S to preview its Spring 2014 collection last month: It was just announced that Burberry's CEO Angela Ahrendts is to leave the British luxury brand for Apple. Ahrendts, whom many credit with wholly transforming the label, is supposedly set to become Apple's new head of retail according the market sources.
"I am profoundly honored to join Apple in this newly created position next year, and very much look forward to working with the global teams to further enrich the consumer experience on and offline," Ahrendts said in a statement. "I have always admired the innovation and impact Apple products and services have on peoples lives and hope in some small way I can help contribute to the companys continued success and leadership in changing the world."
