We knew Beyoncé lip-synched during her national anthem performance on Inauguration Day, but we were still waiting for some kind of grand gesture from Queen Bey herself declaring that the whole thing was nothing more than just a rumor.
Unfortunately, as Beyoncé admitted a few moments ago at her Super Bowl press conference in New Orleans, she did in fact lip-sync — but she had her reasons. "I am a perfectionist and one thing about me… I practice until my feet bleed," the Destiny's Child alum said. "I didn't have time to rehearse with the orchestra… due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound track, I did not feel comfortable taking a risk." She sang along to her pre-recorded track, a performance that, whether lip-synched or not, she absolutely rocked — anyone will agree to that.
All hope is not lost, however. Beyoncé opened the press conference with a completely live — we swear — rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner." Was the press conference necessary? We're not sure. But did Beyoncé sound incredible, as always? Absolutely.
