The night was full of female empowerment as Chelsea Clinton led a panel discussion on women’s international entrepreneurship at a dinner hosted by the Clinton Global Initiative and Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women.

Lloyd Blankfein, the chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs, kicked off the event by celebrating the achievement of the graduates of the 10,000 Women initiative. The program provides underserved female entrepreneurs with an education in business and the funding they need to get their companies off the ground. After completing the program, 83% of the women increased their companies’ revenue and 90% went on to be mentors for other female entrepreneurs.

Two 10,000 Women graduates shared their success stories with Clinton and dinner guests including CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, model Christy Turlington Burns, and writer/activist Zainab Salbi.

Shah Rukh, an interior design entrepreneur in Pakistan and Reem, a tourism professional from Egypt, spoke of the barriers they faced when starting their businesses, from family discouragement to struggles gaining funding. These two graduates, along with Cathy Russell, ambassador-at-large for global women’s issues in the U.S. Department of State, and Isobel Coleman, senior fellow and director of civil society, markets, and democracy initiation of the Council of Foreign Relations, are optimistic that change is happening and the future of entrepreneurship is on women’s side.

Women internationally are more educated than ever before and organizations like the Clinton Global Initiative and Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women are making it happen.
