Christine Quinn Campaigns With Prominent Women's Rights Activist

Christine Quinn, the only female candidate in the hotly anticipated NYC mayoral race, spent her day yesterday campaigning with well-known women's rights activist Sandra Fluke. For those of us following the continuous birth control and women's health debate, Fluke's name should ring a bell as being one of the two activists whom Rush Limbaugh called a "slut" last March. Previously, Fluke had gained recognition when Republicans refused to allow her to testify to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on the importance of requiring insurance plans to cover birth control.

"Having Chris as the next mayor is going to send such a strong message to girls and women," said Fluke on Wednesday as they campaigned in front of a Manhattan crisis pregnancy center.

Quinn is currently considered the election front-runner, and Fluke's endorsement can only further capitalize on Quinn's feminist approach. Stay tuned as the election is sure to get more heated (read: more Anthony Weiner drama, anyone?) as the weeks progress. The election is scheduled to take place on Nov. 5, 2013.
