Beauty Snoop: Eva Green

Beauty Snoop: Eva Green

When you think of Eva Green, the words "femme fatale" usually come to mind. But, the former Bond bombshell and face of Christian Dior's Midnight Poison perfume, traded in her signature smoky eye and sultry red lip to sport a more understated look in her latest film Perfect Sense, which hits theaters today. "I was drawn to this very down-to-earth, sort of 'normal' character [aka a nerdy — albeit sexy — scientist who falls in love with hottie Ewan McGregor]. It's a nice departure from the extreme roles I've played," she says. "Actually, when I'm not filming a movie my beauty approach is really natural — I prefer a bare face that looks really healthy and dewy," confesses Green. The French actress, who relies on regular deep tissue massages and a few rounds of Thai boxing to combat stress, gave us a peek into her private beauty stash. Read on for her tips!

La Prairie Anti-Aging Foundation SPF 15, $100: "I'm very low-maintenance when it comes to my beauty routine. This foundation feels weightless — plus it's really easy to apply with your fingers."

Diorshow Mascara in Black, $25: "The best mascara I’ve found. The glossy formula makes my lashes look so long."

MAC Lipstick in Russian Red, $15: "I love wearing this glamorous shade on the red carpet, but otherwise in real life, I'm pretty low-key and stick with lip balm."

Jurlique Moisture Replenishing Day Cream, $40: "My skin is very dry so I drink a lot of water and use thick moisturizers. I like this one for long flights and as a base under makeup."

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat, $40: "This is my secret weapon for faking perfect-looking skin."

Shu Uemura Muroto Volume Amplifying Shampoo and Conditioner, $48 and $58 respectively: "My hair is a nightmare. Naturally it's very dry and thin, but these products work miracles to hydrate and boost volume."

Extra Virgin Olive Oil, $20: "A stylist taught me that olive oil is a great leave-in conditioner. Just a little bit on the ends repairs my damaged tips instantly."

A lazy beauty enthusiast, Ying Chu is impressed with the amount of time people devote to their hair. When not writing, editing, and researching for her job as beauty & health director, she's an occasional baker, sometime insomniac, and full-time procrastinator. She was born in Shanghai, but has made stops in Vancouver, Toronto, and now New York. Last count, there were seven perfumes, 18 lipsticks, and 11 face serums on her desk that she can't live without. She welcomes new additions.
