Share

A pop-up exhibition just perfect for fashion history buffs as opened in Manhattan that delves into the history of New York City's iconic Garment District. The exhibition, "Urban Fabric: Building New York's Garment District", allows attendees to time-travel, highlighting the Garment District's beginnings during the industrial boom of the 1920s. The exhibition runs from until October 31, 2013 at 1411 Broadway under the name "The Skyscraper Museum."

As a hub of showrooms, production facilities, and fabric suppliers, the Garment District in midtown Manhattan has been an iconic fixture in the fashion industry—it once was home to the largest concentration of skyscraper factories in the world and more than 100,000 manufacturing jobs, according to skyscraper.org.
