Jason Wu has captivated many shoppers around the world — from the masses who swooned over his collection for Target to the First Lady Michelle Obama — and it's clear that the powers that be at Hugo Boss are among them. The designer was just named the artistic director of Boss womenswear, a change that will come into effect on June 15. Wu's new role will take him across the Atlantic to Hugo Boss headquarters in Metzingen, Germany, as well as giving the brand a stronger foothold stateside through the opening of a New York design studio.
Despite the rapid accession of Wu to his new position, we won't be getting an instant taste of what he'll do for the brand: His first designs for Hugo Boss will be released during the Pre-Fall 2014 half season in New York, and his first runway show will be shown in February 2014 for New York Fall/Winter Fashion Week. Even with the wait, Wu claims in a press release that he "plans to develop a strong, feminine womenswear collection that reciprocates the brand's authority in menswear." February 2014 can't come soon enough!
