Dick Cheney's Daughter Liz Joins Wyoming Senate Race

The apple doesn't far from the tree: Dick Cheney's eldest daughter Liz (R) announced yesterday that she is entering the Wyoming Senate race for next year, setting the stage for a Republican Party battle in the Red State. The native Virginian, 46, will challenge incumbent GOP Sen. Mike Enzi next year, having permanently moved to Jackson Hole last year.

Cheney served on George W. Bush's two-term administration as a State Department official, though this is her first bid for office herself. "I believe it is necessary for a new generation of leaders to step up to the plate," Cheney said in her campaign announcement video, rallying support against President Obama's foreign policy and Second Amendment actions. "Wyoming needs a strong voice in Washington. Someone who isn't afraid to fight for what's right. I will never compromise when our freedom is at stake."
