Miss Utah Wants to "Create Education Better"

The 2013 Miss USA pageant was televised last night, and as always, it was filled with bold ball gowns, celebrity performances, and of course, a couple of bumps along the way. Erin Brady, better known as Miss Connecticut, was crowned Miss USA at the end of the night during the show's live broadcast from Las Vegas. However, despite her prize earned stateside, her pageant career is far from over: She'll go on the represent the United States at the Miss Universe pageant later this year.

But as is the case with any pageant, the most memorable moments often don't come from who gets the crown, but who has a fluke on stage. This year's misstep came from Miss Utah, Marissa Powell, who stumbled over an answer of what the still-existing pay gap between men and women says about society.

She started off fine, claiming that the problem can be traced back to education, but faltered midway through her sentence and needed some support from the crowd to break her pause. "I think, especially the men are, um, seen as the leaders of this, and so we need to see how to… create education better. So that we can solve this problem. Thank you." Don't feel too bad for Utah, though — she still walked away from the pageant with the third place prize. Watch her answer, here:
