Watch out, ABBA! There's a new Swedish powerhouse in town. Allow us to introduce Amanda Mair, a 17-year-old rising pop star whose debut album is already causing quite the stir in her home country. The Swedish Music Industry named the pianist and recording artist — who has drawn comparisons to Kate Bush and Dusty Springfield — "2012's Big Breakthrough."
When MC's in-house music guru Sergio Kletnoy spoke with Mair, she was all smiles, affirming her answers to his many questions — who's your celebrity crush? Favorite cartoon character? Hidden talent? — with a pause, a "yes," and a big grin. After watching the music video for "Sense," the forthcoming single off of her self-titled debut album, we too are feeling happy-go-lucky. Mair sings of her complicated past relationships, all the while holding up hand-written signs with messages like, "now I see" and "the future is me." With that voice, indeed it is.
