Will and Kate exited St. Mary's Hospital Lindo Wing at 7:15 p.m. UK time today, after visits from both sets of grandparents earlier this afternoon. Kate, looking far too gorgeous for someone who just gave birth, wore a baby blue Jenny Packham polka dot dress to show off her son this definitely stirred up memories of Diana 31 years ago, who also wore polka dots when debuting baby William to the world. She told the press that the experience "was very emotional, it is such a special time. Any parent knows what that feels like," while she held her new son with William by her side. The couple answered a few questions from the press, but made it clear that they are still working on the name.
Funniest response? When Will was asked if his son had any hair, he joked "more than me, thank God!" Both commented on how happy and excited they were, and that Will has already changed his first diaper!
The press had been stationed outside St. Mary's since July 1 to get the money shot of the royal. The couple has left the hospital to head home to Kensington Palace, where Kate's sister Pippa is waiting to greet her nephew. Our verdict on the new prince? Adorable! See for yourself above.
UPDATE: Will and Kate have left Kensington Palace to return to her parents' home in Bucklebury after the family's first night at home. However, they waited for a VIP visitor before taking their leave. The Queen, who is due for her annual holiday at Balmoral Castle in Scotland this Friday, stopped by Kensington Palace to meet her new great-grandson! The couple spent an hour with the monarch before heading out to see Kate's parents, who met the new baby yesterday at the hospital.
Now that the Queen, both sets of grandparents, and Kate's siblings James and Pippa have all met the new prince, we're waiting on visits from Prince Philip, the Queen's husband, and of course, Prince Harry, the world's most famous uncle. Stay tuned for news on the namewith any luck it will be here any day!
UPDATE: The baby's name has been released! Like the bookies predicted, George Alexander Louis, and will be known to the public as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge. The selection of George is no surprise, with the name having a long history with the family. The last King George was Queen Elizabeth's father, George VI, although his birth name was Albert. One day little baby George will rule Great Britain and the commonwealth as George VII!
