Five Movies to See This Weekend (VIDEO)

Captain Phillips: The uber-hyped Oscar contender and star of the New York Film Festival's Opening Night Gala is a must-see. Starring the charming Tom Hanks and a never-before-acted breakout star as the Somali pirate leader, Paul Greengrass' adaptation of the true story of Captain Richard Phillips' capture is sure to inspire.

CBGB: New York's underground punk rock scene comes to gritty light in this film showcasing the Lower East Side club that housed some of the genre's greatest bands: The Ramones, The Talking Heads, Green Day, The Goo Goo Dolls, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. And did we mention Hangover's Justin Bartha drops trou in the film?

Romeo and Juliet: The world's greatest and most tragic love story gets a fresh adaptation with Hailee Steinfeld and Douglas Booth in the iconic roles most recently inhabited by Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio for the silver screen. We also get to see Homeland's Brody (Damian Lewis) as Lord Capulet.

The Incredible Defeat of Mister and Pete: This film tells the harrowing story of two young boys forced to fend for themselves amidst drugs and violence in the Brooklyn projects when their mothers (former American Idol stars Jennifer Hudson and Jordin Sparks) are incarcerated.

Broadway Idiot: A behind the scenes documentary that follows Green Day's frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong, as he attempted to turn his greatest album into a broadway musical.

And in case you missed it:

Gravity: Breaking October Box Office records last week, this sci-fi thriller starring none other than Hollywood stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, has critics swooning. The New York Times claimed, "You have to see it to believe it."
