At this weekend's Comic-Con in San Diego, fans were treated to the first image of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, who is set to appear in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Check it out from Gadot herself:

And let's be clear: She looks badass. There's lots of metal armor and tough-looking weapons. But she's another example of superheroes in modern movies losing their camp quality in order to look gritty. There's not a trace of red or blue, let alone spandex, in Gadot's costume.
It's a far cry from Lynda Carter's 1970s TV portrayal. In fact, she looks more like a certain warrior princess from '90s television. Here's what fans had to say on social media.

Even Lucy Lawless, who played Xena on the 1995 show, didn't take too kindly to the character, slamming a DC Comics artist who said he didn't want Wonder Woman to be a feminist.
