Dear CC: I was invited to my boss's kid's wedding. Do I
really have to go?
CC understands-you're dying to pull the "I'd love to, but my great-aunt is getting her tummy tucked that weekend" trick. But if your boss thinks it's important enough to invite you, it's important enough for you to go. That said, no need to spring for the sterling-silver carving set on the registry; the cheese spreader should be sufficient. And make sure your date doesn't down too much champagne, then grind either you or Mrs. Boss on the dance floor or mention that little suspended sentence/community service deal.
