"All of the stars, they don't shine brighter than you are."

In the video, a collaboration with director Mishka Kornai for his song, "You & I (Nobody in the World)," Legend showcases the individual beauty of all kinds of women. From famous faces, such as his wife Chrissy Teigen to Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox, to young girls and mothers, the video features women of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds including a young woman with Down Syndrome, a woman examining her chest after a mastectomy, a female boxer with a bloody nose, and a woman with vitilg needlessly fussing with their appearance in the mirror. "If your mirror won't make it any clearer, I'll be the one to let you know [..] All of the stars, they don't shine brighter than you are," he sings.
In addition to the music video, Legend also offers a short documentary, When I Look In The Mirror, which tells the stories of the 63 women featured in the video through interviews, vérité filming, and staged recreations. The two eye-opening shorts are intended to raise awareness of the #OperationGirl Charity Challenge, a campaign that looks to empower, educate, and protect the rights of girls and women.
"We live in a world where egregious injustices occur regularly against girls and women. We have a responsibility to take action and disrupt the conditions that allow for such tragedies to occur," Legend said. "Through #OperationGirl we hope to amplify the voices and impact of the many organizations doing great work on behalf of girls and women."
