Home to an impressive array of literati during the early 20th century, the Algonquin Hotel has teamed with First Book and Neiman Marcus to offer an opportunity to re-create that famous atmosphere by gathering a number of celebrated writers, wits, and intellectual for an evening to share dinner with you and a guest. A portion of the $250,000 fee will benefit First Book, a nonprofit that has distributed more than 65 million books to underprivileged children. Dinner guests include Christopher Buckley, Malcolm Gladwell. Henry Louis Gates Jr., Adam Gopnick, John Lithgow, George Stephanopoulos, and many others. (neimanmarcus.com, $250,000)
