Humanitarian Manhattan Shopping Guide

Spence-Chapin Thrift ShopIt's easy to get caught up in the whirl wind of holiday shopping and gifting. But it's also the season to remember those less fortunate than ourselves. Indulge your inner humanitarian at these shops, where your shopping efforts, and dollars, will go towards various charities and efforts. You can find some of the most feel good shopping in the heart of Manhattan. Tis the season to give! On Madison Avenue you can check out, Agnes B, where you can pick a Red Scarf, and have go towards helping those who live with AIDS and HIV. On Fifth Avenue, the social calendar at Henri Bendel http://www.storeadore.com/sdev/store_profile.php?storeID=1709 is loaded with Charity Shopping Events to work out your wallet and karma. Housing Works dedicates itself to helping low-income families living with AIDS and HIV by featuring second hand pieces from designers like Lacoste, Cynthia Rowley, and Escada. Linhardt Design Studio donates a percentage of proceeds from the sale of each item to the Beads for Education and The Kenya Education Fund. And at Spence-Chapin Thrift Shop (pictured), all proceeds from the donated goods benefit Spence-Chapin's 100-year-old program, which places domestic and international orphans in caring homes.
