Not so long ago, Kate Middleton was down on her luck: battling severe morning sickness with baby number two while dealing with opinion polls that revealed no one wants to be her (we still wonder how this is possible).
But it seems, everything is coming up KMidd, starting with some exciting new pregnancy fashions and ending with her expanded circle of friends—one that now includes One Direction, Britain's other glorious gift to the planet.

Kate (decked out in Diane Von Furstenberg) and Prince William were greeted by the band—as well as Ed Sheeran later because without Prince Harry in tow, the evening needed one great ginger to represent—at the Royal Variety Show at The Palladium in London last night.

The 1D boys, according to Us Weekly, were appropriately nervous. "I didn't say 'ma'am,'" Louis Tomlinson (the other swoopy-haired one; we googled) reported after. "I said, 'Hi, How are you? I'm Louis.'" But Harry Styles knew how to play it. "I said congratulations on the bump," he said. "[Though] she didn't look bumpy." And from that smile, it's clear he was a real pro about it.

Really, the only thing that would have made all of this better was if Kate and Harry had posed for a hair-off.
