Today in news that will make you feel old, Malia Obama's college search has officially begun. Page Six reports the 16-year-old junior was spotted visiting two New York City schools, NYU and Columbia University, this morning. Michelle Obama and a Secret Service officer joined her.

Malia started at NYU, where she toured buildings and even had her first run-in with a college guy. The student accidentally stepped in an elevator with the group, he told the school paper, while they were on a private tour of the Goddard Hall dorm. A fairly exciting but somewhat awkward experience, surely.

Afterward, Malia and Michelle went uptown and saw Columbia, where President Obama went for undergrad. They then had lunch at nearby Community Food & Juice. One lucky restaurant goer Instagrammed the sighting:

(For reference, Malia was 10 when the President was inaugurated. Time flies, huh?)
