So Matthew Perry won't be joining the Friends reunion next month (could we BE any more heartbroken?!), but he'll always be Chandler Bing to us. In fact, Perry admits that the sitcom character was surprisingly similar to his real-life personality.
"I was unavailable because I'd done this terrible TV show… so I was off the market. My friends were all auditioning for this show called Friends and there was this character called Chandler, who was very similar to me," he said during a visit to The Graham Norton Show. "So I would help them with their auditions. And I finally said, 'Let me just do this for you. Just imitate what I'm doing and go in.' And some of them got very far and almost got the job."
Luckily, his original commitment fell through and Perry went on to play the role of sarcastic, quick-witted Chandler Bing.
As it turns out, the actor's memory and knowledge of his iconic character are remarkably intact. Graham Norton tests Perry with the quiz from the episode, "The One with the Embryos." There's only one question that stumps him—as it has stumped us all for years. See what it is in the video below:
