Truly a comedic genius.

You may now officially call Melissa McCarthy a Comedic Genius. Melissa received her super fancy popcorn award at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards and crowd surfed her way to the stage for the acceptance speech. After literally losing her award for a brief second thanks to Kevin Hart's clumsy hand (a moment they swear was not a part of "the bit"), Melissa began her speech by thanking "Mr. Rock Johnson" and "The Rock's assistant." She also said that while she's the first woman to receive the award, she is "certainly not the first one to deserve it," giving shout outs to a long list of funny women including Carole Burnett, Whoopi Goldberg, Lucille Ball, Tracey Ullman, and Lily Tomlin. Then she said the most wonderful thing about her mother:

And to my mom, Sandy Lynn McCarthy, who taught me not to fear being the butt of the joke, taught me not to worry about being likeable and perfect, and to lovingly go for the kill.

Melissa also thanked "every single person who buys a ticket for one of my movies or watches my show," which was so fitting considering her latest film The Boss dethroned Batman v. Superman to become the number one film in the U.S. Congratulations to Melissa, The Boss, and also The Boss, who also got a shout out in her speech.

Next up for Melissa: Ghostbusters (and also Stars Hollow).
