Shane was just as cool as Landon IRL.

It's been 15 years since "A Walk to Remember" premiered in 2002, and it lives on to this day as one of the best high school romance movies of all time. It was about two people who couldn't be more opposite falling in love. There was a romantic serenade, dancing in the moonlight, first kisses, a wedding—it had everything!

The movie wouldn't have been the same without Jamie and Landon's amazing chemistry, for which we have stars Mandy Moore and Shane West to thank.

The pair reunited for an interview with Entertainment Weekly on the movie's15th anniversary, and Mandy revealed the secret to their off-the-charts sparks on screen: She actually had a crush on Shane in real life.

"Shane was so cool," Mandy gushed to EW. "Everything about him—the way he dressed and the music he listened to. He was the character to me and there was definitely a part of me that absolutely fell in love with him."

Mandy was only 16 when she filmed A Walk to Remember and it was her first major role, so it's understandable that she got swept up in the emotions of her character.

"I don't know if I could discern the difference between him and the character at that point in time because, again, I was just so caught up in the moment and the experience," she shared. "I absolutely walked away from that project so convinced that there would never be a project as special as that."

At the time, Mandy was definitely starstruck to be working with Shane, who had already starred in his share of hit TV shows and movies. He basically became her mentor on set.

"Shane was so wonderful," she raved. "I didn't know what I was doing. He had a lot of respect as an actor and I was just the total newbie. I didn't even know how to hit a mark, I was so fresh-faced and naïve. I felt incredibly lucky right off the bat that I had someone who was as willing to work with me and who was patient and understanding. He was just the perfect partner for that."

Landon may have been a jerk at the beginning of the movie, but Shane sounds like he was an absolute angel on set! Can you blame Mandy for letting part of herself fall in love with him? Who among us wouldn't have felt the same way?
