MOVIES: What To Watch

THE OSCAR CONTENDER: Black Book (Carice van Houten, Sebastian Koch)

This Dutch film about a young Jewish girl in Holland trying to escape the Holocaust is no Schindler's List, but it's pretty darn close. The movie is thoroughly en-grossing, although many scenes test the limits of graphic violence. Don't say we didn't warn you.

THE YOU'RE GONNA-NEED-A-KLEENEX FILM: Pride (Terrence Howard, Bernie Mac)Pride is based on the true story of an inner-city swim coach who turns a bunch of misfit neighborhood boys into Michael Phelps wannabes. If you've seen Glory Road, Remember the Titans, or the slew of other based-on-a-true-story tearjerker sport films, then you know where it's headed. We promised ourselves we wouldn't cry this time-damn you, Terrence Howard!
