Ashley Judd announced via Twitter last week that she will not be running for Senate in Kentucky next year. After months of speculation and consideration, the leading Democratic contender will not run against Republican Mitch McConnell.

"Regretfully, I am currently unable to consider a campaign for the Senate," Judd wrote on Wednesday. So while her Congressional career may be on hold for now, she made it clear that she'll still play an active part in Kentucky politics. "I will continue to work as hard as I can to ensure the needs of Kentucky families are met by returning this Senate seat to whom it rightfully belongs: the people & their needs, dreams, and great potential."

We have to give it to the Kentucky-born actress: We're unbelievably proud of Judd for advancing so far in the 2014 Senatorial campaign. With a long background of humanitarian work, we're not ruling out a future career as Senator Ashley Judd, either. For now, we're thrilled to have seen such a strong woman channel her star-power towards politics.
