Because Of Course: Taylor Swift Is Hosting the Met Gala

The pop star will co-chair "Fashion in an Age of Technology" with Anna Wintour and Idris Elba, as one does.

The Met Gala is almost upon us (by which we mean months away), and the Metropolitan Museum of Art just announced the new theme for 2016's exhibition: "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology."

Also important: the Gala's being hosted by Taylor Swift (alongside Idris Elba, Jonathan Ive, and Anna Wintour). Interestingly enough, the singer recently told NME that "people might need a break from me." Then this happens. (Heh, good one, Tay. You got us.)

So, what can we expect from Manus x Machina? The show will feature 100 pieces of haute couture and ready-to-wear designs that are a combination of handmade (think embroidery and lace work) and machine-made.

"Traditionally, the distinction between the haute couture and prêt-à-porter was based on the handmade and the machine-made," says Costume Institute curator Andrew Bolton. "But recently this distinction has become increasingly blurred as both disciplines have embraced the practices and techniques of the other."

Sounds great, but if Sarah Jessica Parker doesn't show up in a huge hat we'll be 😞.
