Need to Meet: Elizaveta

We're always on the hunt for new singers to fill our iPods, and we found ourselves a breath of fresh air with Manhattan-born, Russia-raised songwriter Elizaveta. She's already getting rave reviews for her debut album, Beatrix Runs, which was released just yesterday. The music is, for lack of a better genre, "popera" (that's pop meets opera), but Elizaveta describes it as taking "opera, classical music, but also pop, electronica and a bit of world here and there, throw it all in the same pot and stir it up!"

We like the sound of that.

MC's Sergio Kletnoy talked to the music-mixologist about her fashion sense, which also has plenty of "19th-meets-20th century" style elements, and — in the video above — he somehow convinced her to belt out a bit of Whitney Houston.
