A few weeks ago, Chelsea Handler announced she'd be leaving her late night talk show, Chelsea Lately, when her contract expired — now it's official: the hour-long finale will air August 26 at 11 p.m. on E!.
Despite recent tension with the network — which Handler called a "sad, sad place" on Howard Stern's radio show in March — her press release seemed positive. She referred to her time on the show as a "fantastic seven years," and added, "I will always look back at my time on E! as most people look back at their time in college. I'm glad I went."
Suzanne Kolb, the president of E!, praised Handler for adding "a distinct voice to late night with her acerbic wit and fearless commentary."
Handler's departure will leave the late night field again unoccupied by women.
