At the rate words are created and popularized these days, it seems the real dictionary reads more and more like Urban Dictionary every day. In the latest edition, the ever-evolving Merriam-Webster dictionary has grown to incorporate a few more of today's trendiest terms. 1,700 to be exact.
Most of the new additions fall under the lexicon of our social media-driven, digital-dependent lives, some with a fashion focus. So now when a friend sends you a NSFW meme of Miley Cyrus twerking topless without a warning, it is perfectly correct to say WTF and add an angry emoji. Or when your basic (when will that definition be updated??) roommate doesn't understand why your upcycled Re/Done jeans are superior to her jeggings, you can simply suggest she look it up.
Here, a few of the newly appointed definitions you should know:
emoji (n.) : any of various small images, symbols, or icons used in text fields in electronic communication (as in text messages, email, and social media) to express the emotional attitude of the writer, convey information succinctly, communicate a message playfully without using words, etc.
WTF (abbrev.) : what the f*ck — used especially to express or describe outraged surprise, recklessness, confusion, or bemusement
jegging (n.) : a legging that is designed to resemble a tight-fitting pair of denim jeans and is made of a stretchable fabric
photobomb (v.) : to move into the frame of a photograph as it is being taken as a joke or prank

clickbait (n.) : something (such as a headline) designed to make readers want to click on a hyperlink especially when the link leads to content of dubious value or interest
meme (n.) : an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture; an amusing or interesting item (such as a captioned picture or video) or genre of items that is spread widely online especially through social media
NSFW (abbrev.) : not safe for work; not suitable for work — used to warn someone that a website, e-mail attachment, etc., is not suitable for viewing at most places of employment
upcycle (v.) : to recycle (something) in such a way that the resulting product is of a higher value than the original item
twerk (v.) : sexually suggestive dancing characterized by rapid, repeated hip thrusts and shaking of the buttocks, especially while squatting
