Kate McKinnon and Alec Baldwin Break Character in SNL's Last Trump-Clinton Sketch

This perfectly sums up the election.

Since the last debate, the FBI's announcement that it is investigating new Hillary Clinton emails has dominated much of election coverage, despite numerous controversial stories about Donald Trump coming out (such as reports that FBI insiders tipped the Trump campaign to the new emails before they came outthat White Supremacist group the KKK endorsed Trump; and that the FBI is also investigating Trump's ties to Russia but chose not announce that in fear of influencing the election). Saturday Night Live tackled this last night in its final election skit, featuring Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton and Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump making their final case on CNN.

The "candidates'" commentary on the news cycle was excellent, but it's Clinton's final wrap-up comment that was one of the sketch's strongest moment:

Then Baldwin broke character, after blabbering on as Trump about how he'd try to send her to jail. "I'm sorry, Kate. I just hate yelling all this stuff at you like this," he said.

"Yeah, I know right? This whole election has been so mean," McKinnon replied.

"I just feel gross all the time. I mean, don't you all feel gross about this?"

What happened next was both funny and poignant. The two went out to Times Square and gave free hugs, before coming back and imploring everyone to vote.

Watch it all below; this really is the show's best election sketch yet:
