The stakes are already high for the new season of The Bachelorette, because its star has announced that she's engaged.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dallas lawyer Rachel Lindsay, who fell for Nick Viall on the last season of The Bachelor, says she's "very much engaged." And, have no fear, Lindsay says he's a catch: "If I had a list he would check everything off."

Sounds like it was a successful season for Lindsay, who is the first African American star of the franchise. It seems like only yesterday—well, it was yesterday—that we were making snap judgements on the squareness of the Bachelorette contestants' jaws and the height of their hair. Now we know that one of them has managed to win her heart. Is it SpongeBryce SquareJaw? "I'm ready to go black and I'm never going back" Dean? (Yikes.) Or "I don't have any female friends" Jamey? Gosh, sure hope not. (Though, each to their own, I guess.)

But if you're stressed about having a whole season of television to get through before you find out just whom Cupid shot with his bow, just think about how Lindsay and her fiancé feel. "It's hard when you're so excited about something and you can't share it with everyone," she said. "But we make sure to communicate with each other all the time, and that's all you can really do."

Is that a clue? It's someone who can communicate!...Okay, probably not.

In classic Bachelor/Bachelorette style, Lindsay's going to use the engagement to learn more about her new dude: "I want us to get the chance to get to know each other." Which, same.

The new season of The Bachelorette premieres Monday, May 22 at 9/8c on ABC.
