Ryan Murphy Just Unveiled the Actual Theme for 'American Horror Story' Season 7

At Comic-Con, of course.

After teasing fans with creepy clowns and a Lena Dunham casting announcement, Ryan Murphy FINALLY revealed the theme of American Horror Story's seventh season. And it's, dun dun dun, CULT.

On Twitter, Murphy had previously ruled out other options like "Hive" and "Colony," which people only guessed because of cryptic Instagram posts from the social media-heavy showrunner.

And now fans are left to figure out how and what "Cult" signifies. As Murphy previously teased, "Official American Horror Story Season 7 title will be revealed Thursday July 20. And suddenly... it will all make sense." So, uh, what does it all mean? Those clowns and bees certainly reappear, as shown in this teaser trailer:

Perhaps the season will borrow from other famous horror works involving clowns, specifically It and The Wicker Man? Or perhaps Murphy's just doubling down on what fans already know about the show—namely, that Twisty the Clown is baaack, and the season will begin on election night.
