THE OH-NO-THEY-DI'INT! COMEDY:

THE TEN

Picture Sunday school. Now add puppet-on-human sex, a hot Jesus (played by Justin Theroux), naked suburban-dad dancers, and appearances by Winona Ryder, Liev Schreiber, and Paul Rudd, and you get this Ten Commandments-inspired film from the amazingly funny David Wain (genius alum of comedy troupe The State). It's so rollicking and ridiculous, you can't not like it-and, yeah, we'll see you in hell.

MORE EVIDENCE THAT HIGH SCHOOL ISN'T WHAT IT USED TO BE:

CHARLIE BARTLETT

First-time director Jon Poll nails this comedy about a privileged kid (Anton Yelchin) who is sent to public school and wins over his classmates with his charm, wit, and access to psychiatric drugs. Robert Downey Jr. is hilarious as the alcoholic principal (stretch, huh?) set on making Bartlett's life miserable, but we found ourselves rooting for the adorable, blue-eyed 17-year-old with the zeal of a love-struck cheerleader.

THE WAR DOC THAT WILL HAVE YOU PICKING YOUR JAW UP OFF THE FLOOR:

NO END IN SIGHT

In case there was any question about how spectacularly we flubbed the "postwar reconstruction" of Iraq, this film will clear it up. First-time director Charles Ferguson lays it out for us, splicing clear evidence of the Bush administration's gross missteps with Rummy's bald-faced denials of them. If Ferguson's goal was to make each of us think twice about getting ourselves into another "bloodless" war . . . mission accomplished.
