London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014: L'Wren Scott

L'Wren Scott Spring/Summer 2014 in review.

L'Wren Scott wins the award for best London Fashion Week (#LFW) production this season to date. A chalk white rectangular room posed two long dining tables on either side of the catwalk only to be filled by Fashion's most elite editors and socialites (Mick and Georgia Jagger front and center of course).  Besides for the guests, the stark space was filled with traditional Japanese sounds.  Eventually lines of waiters paraded along the tables serving guests colorful bento boxes filled with miso-glazed cod and seaweed salads, a perfect preface of what was about to come.

Scott's models appeared down the catwalk donning obi-turned-bow-cinched waists, colorful garden embroidered sleeves, and signature clean, crisp silhouettes inspired by 16th century Japan in the Momoyama period and Tagasode, meaning "whose sleeves" coming from one of Scott's favorite ancient screens.  Bento box red, eggplant purple, and aged gold hues filled the collection and was accessorized with vellum umbrellas, Japanese Kasa hats, and Brian Atwood's mega-sized wedges to literally top of the collection.
