Nail art was all over the runways at New York Fashion Week — very exciting for a nail polish junkie like myself! From glittery stiletto nails to rainbow swirls, beauty teams stepped up their nail games. My favorite design appeared at the Kate Spade showcase, where the models sported . The best part? Even if you aren't a nail art guru, this style is super-easy to recreate at home:
1. Apply a base coat, which is essential to protect your nails from the polish. People always wonder why my nails, when bare, look so healthy even though I paint them multiple times each week. It's the base coat.
2. Paint your nail any color you like. I chose Hey Sailor from China Glaze, one of my favorite reds. Let it dry for about five minutes.
3. Grab your pick of white nail color. I opted for White Light from SpaRitual because it is easy to make dots with the round-tip brush.
4. Start polka-ing! Keep even space between the dots so that each dot is individually visible. Be careful to avoid putting two dots so close to each other that they look like a white line instead of a white dot. Once you are done, let dry for ten minutes and apply top coat. My current favorite is Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.
I love this look so much that I can't wait to try it again. I plan to go preppy with a dark, midnight blue like OPI's Road House Blues with yellow polka dots.
