Literally the day New York Fashion Week ended, I flew directly to London for London Fashion Week, which I've never been to before! Still, I usually don't plan my travel like that (with no time to pack!), but I had to make it to the U.K. for the Vivienne Westwood "Get A Life" Palladium Jewelry Collection launch party that Friday. So off I went, not even knowing what was in my suitcase, just hoping to sleep the entire flight so that I wouldn't be dead-on-arrival. Luckily, I got to my hotel, The Sanderson, early and had time eat and take a nap before the main event.
Originally I was planning on wearing this red Dolce and Gabbana dress, but I changed my mind last minute and wore my go-to black Hervé Léger dress with a beige leather Yigal Azrouel jacket I also wore during NYFW — a fashion faux pas, I know! I had dinner with my friend Fernanda Abdalla at this Chinese restaurant called Hakkasan in Mayfair… So delicious — it's the second Hakkasan in London, and it recently opened to the public. Then we headed to the party.
At first, what struck me most was the location. I had never been to the Wallace Collection, and to be surrounded by Titians and Rembrandts while sipping champagne was an experience in and of itself. Then, of course, there was the jewelry. The whole concept was Dame Westwood's use of Palladium, a precious metal that stays white for a lifetime. Her handling of it was both unique and inspired. I loved how the pieces were minimal while still feeling full, how the manmade branches and leaves gave each item a sense of growth and life. All in all, I give the collection a definite thumbs up. And as for the performance, listening to Jessie J sing her hits (did I mention it was in the Wallace Collection?!) was incredible. She wore an oak leaf tiara by Dame Westwood and little else, but her performance was the perfect end to a truly fun night.
Me with Fe.
Cool London style.
Jessie J wearing her Westwood tiara.
Jessie J rocking out.
Me out after… I changed! Now I'm wearing a Malandrino top, Helmut Lang leather pants, and an Ann Taylor necklace.
Come back to my blog on Friday to see pics of Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks modeling the jewelry!
