When great minds think alike, you get "Gucci Collector: Presented by Christie," the first Gucci-certified online destination for appraising vintage Gucci products.
Sure to become the ultimate resource for vintage novices and impassioned collectors, this free service can be found on both gucci.com and christies.com, where a customized section of the Christie's website allows you to upload photos of your vintage items and submit appraisal requests.
"This new service will provide a 'trusted' venue for transactions of vintage Gucci items thereby avoiding recourse to 'uncontrolled' auction sites such as eBay." says Gucci President and CEO Patrizio di Marco.
How it works: Submit your photos and appraisal request, and within two to four weeks, you will receive an auction estimate, prepared by Christie's Director of Fashion and Textiles, Patricia Frost and her team of costume specialists in collaboration with the Gucci Archive Department. They'll also tell you whether the product would be appropriate either for an upcoming Christie's vintage sale, or if it might be of interest to either Gucci or Christie's from an historical perspective (participation in sales is optional).
