"WHAT'S OLD IS NEW and what's new is old," says designer Tommy Hilfiger of his 20-year love for vintage clothing and accessories. "I have one of the largest collections [in the world] sitting in our archives." Now he's sharing his passion with his clientele. This month Hilfiger collaborates with his longtime friend Cameron Silver, founder of Los Angeles vintage store Decades, on a specialty capsule collection of more than 30 iconic pieces dating back to the 1950s. Armed with a generous budget and specific parameters ("anything red, white, blue, or wine-colored"), Silver set out on a daylong hunt at the Metropolitan Pavilion's Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show. There, he snapped up a striped shift, graphic blouses, and an eyeful of accessories like Lucite handbags. "It was all about fusing how a Decades woman would dress—with a sense of glamour—with Tommy's all-American DNA," explains Silver. "It turned out to be a very natural mix of clothing." Silver's finds will be displayed and sold at the label's flagship store on Robertson Boulevard in L.A., where "stumbling across a one-of-a-kind piece is like finding a hidden treasure," says Hilfiger. In this case, the duo has done the legwork for you. —Jessica Minkoff
