What Inspired David Peck's Sustainable Fashion Line CrOp

Last week, I grabbed coffee with fashion designer David Peck to discuss his current collection. I've worked with his ethical fashion line CrOp for a few months now. In fact, he told me that I was the first publication to shoot his product when I ran one of his dresses on my May "Feel-Good Fashion" piece on Livia Firth! CrOp — which stands for "creative opportunities" — is a phenomenal line that is just getting started. Here are pics of his most recent collection, and keep reading to learn about how CrOp pairs social responsibility with sustainable design.

David takes inspiration from world events and for his Fall 2011 collection, he drove down to New Orleans to document the effects of Katrina and the BP oil spill. From this trip, he used his photos of rusted barrels, abandoned oil rigs, and shattered glass bottles in his most recent textiles and is donating 10 percent of all sales to gulf coast charities helping to rehabilitate the hardest hit areas.

On top of that, David is a staunch supporter of sustainable textiles and uses organic washed twill, organic merino wool jersey, and fine natural silks in his designs. Oh, and everything is made in the U.S. Pretty impressive, David!
