Karl Lagerfeld's collection for Chanel walked just yesterday in Paris, and, well, it basically blew every other spring 2012 showing out of the water. Appropriately enough, then, that Lagerfeld selected an under-the-sea theme for his latest crop of looks. There were mother-of-pearl seashell clutches, sheaths stitched with wavelike ribbons, and tweed separates in shades of seaform and aquamarine.
Meanwhile, the clothes sported in the front row were nothing to scoff at. Check out gamine actresses Nora Zehetner and Clémence Poésy, who came decked out in their Lagerfeld-crafted finest. We love how Nora topped her sheer (yet somehow not at all racy) chiffon maxidress with a bejeweled headband—she's at once channeling Natalie Portman and Audrey Hepburn. And Chanel-loving Clémence's polka-dot frock, with its embellished neckline and tea-length hem, is sweet perfection I'd love to have hanging in my own closet. The perfect finishing touch for both girls? Why, those ear-to-ear grins, of course. Considering the clothes on display yesterday, it's no surprise they're beaming.
