During awards season, Katy Perry was as close to a real life fairy princess as it gets in her frothy Valentino couture confections. Much to our delight, she'll be just as whimiscal on her Prismatic World Tour. The storied Italian fashion house has created at least one showstopping costume for the tour, which kicks off on May 7 in Belfast, Ireland.
Perry posted a sketch of the custom Valentino dress and cape on Instagram. "Let's start the 10 day countdown with a little couture @maisonvalentino #theprismaticworldtour," read her teasing caption. In true Perry fashion, each piece is swathed in iridescent jewel tones, blinding embellishments, and 3-D butterflies. We have a sneaking suspicion this number will be her choice costume when she performs "Wide Awake," as the music video just happened to be filled with butterflies.
Will this be her most memorable Valentino look to date? We can't be too sure, considering it's had stiff competition. On Grammy night alone, she had two Valentino moments that have been engraved in our mind ever since.
Perry walked the Grammy Awards red carpet in this elegant Valentino Couture Spring 2014 gown. The white tull number was unforgettable thanks to its floaty skirt speckled in music notes.
Later on in the evening, she slipped into a different look from the Spring 2014 couture collection. The voluminous, oxblood tulle cocktail dress featured another whimsical motif in form of a snake that wrapped around her torso.
Update, May 8, 2014:
Last night, Perry kicked off her world tour wearing the technicolor Valentino gown. We think it was even better #IRL, especially with her matching rainbow hair.
