Q: I have had two children in the last six years, and have put on about 50 pounds -- most of it around my hips. I am 5'4", 175 pounds, and my chest is a 40D. Right now, I really don't feel that great about how I look.

I'm working on losing a lot of weight, but I have no idea how to dress so that I can feel good about myself in the meantime. Is there any wardrobe that can help?

A: You can still look and feel great even though your body is not the same as it used to be! Here are some tips on how to best flatter your figure at this time:

  • Dress in monochromatic colors and casual, relaxed cuts.
  • Steer clear of oversized or tight-fitting clothing.
  • Stop focusing on your faults and focus on your positive attributes. Pick something about your body you feel good about -- like shapely legs or sexy shoulders -- and emphasize that attribute.
  • Don't wear tops or jackets that end at your hips.
  • Choose pantsuits in nonclingy fabrics with longer duster-length jackets. Remember, the most important thing is that you are comfortable and feel good about the way you look. If you feel good, your confidence will show through no matter what you wear.
