Even though I try to cultivate a rock-and roll aesthetic, the results often fall short: The essentials needed to pull off the style leave me looking more like a biker chick than Rihanna. I loathe the fit issues that come attached to leather jackets. The pleather available for my size-16/18 frame makes me feel sweaty, not sexy—quelle horreur! Luckily, leather pants with jersey inset panels and vegan leathers that feel like butter have me inching closer to my Courtney Love (post-rehab) ambitions. The best thing about the leathery set? You can mix and match from workday to weekend: I pair my moto jacket with slacks or a pencil skirt on Monday, and sleekly chic denim come Saturday. This rough-and-tumble textile is the new classic, whether you choose to splurge or save. Follow me on Twitter @NicoletteMason for more tips!
