HIS INSPIRATIONS"The works of magical-realist Dutch painter Wim Schumacher and spending time in the American West. I love the starkness and colors of the desert. I admire the Hutterites of Montana [a religious sect]; their values are pure and their dress simple."

HIS MUSES"Christy Turlington was my muse this season, and Lauren Hutton always is. I love Elle Macpherson for her spontaneity. She once came straight off a plane from the Bahamas to a fitting for the Met's Costume Institute gala. She was wearing flip-flops, and we said, 'That's the look.'
