Q: I've had freckles all my life and, much to my dismay, they haven't lightened as I've aged. Is there any way to permanently remove my freckles?
A: Do you wear sunscreen every day, even in the winter? All freckles are a result of sun damage (newborns are spot-free until they're exposed to sunlight), so religious sunscreen use is essential to keep freckling to a minimum. To fade existing spots, try a lightening product with soy or vitamin C, like Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisturizing Lotion or Murad Age Spot & Pigment Lightening Gel. Microdermabrasion or chemical peels will help speed up the process.
